The unfortunate news follows the removal of Silent Hills’ Playable Trailer (P.T.) from the PlayStation Network. With this announcement, the involvement of del Toro and actor Norman Reedus (from The Walking Dead)  comes to an end in this project.

Does this means the days at Konami for famed game director Hideo Kojima are counted?

Konami plans to remove Silent Hills’ Playable Teaser from PSN

[EN]: The “Playable Teaser” for the upcoming Silent Hills for the PS4 will be removed from the PlayStation Store on April 29, according to a brief announcement on its web site.

Konami posted the following message that was first shared by a Reddit user on the Metal Gear Solid subreddit:

The distribution period of “P.T. (Playable Teaser)” on PlayStation®Store will expire on Wednesday, April 29, 2015.

The reason for the removal of P.T. is unknown, but fans may wonder if internal problems at Konami could be the main reason. In the past month of March, Konami removed everything related to Kojima Productions, including logos, web sites and social media accounts.

Will the upcoming Silent Hills game, which includes the participation of Guillermo del Toro as director and Norman Reedus as actor, be cancelled? Though Kojima said he is completely involved in the development of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, he mentioned nothing about his future at Konami or anything related to Silent Hills.

For a franchise that was originally launched in 1996, Capcom keeps demonstrating the Resident Evil has an awesome staying power in videogames and films.

Interested fans of RE who have not had a chance to play this HD remake should know the game includes better visuals and sounds, control and aspect ratio options, as well as a Very Easy mode. It’s available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

[EN]: During an event today in San Francisco, Marvel announced a partnership with Telltale Games for a series of games to launch in 2017. With the success of Telltale Games bringing known TV franchises to gaming such as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, Marvel also wants that success for its franchises and loves the narrative style of TTG.

“If it doesn’t turn heads, if it doesn’t get you excited to talk with your friends, it’s not a Marvel game. It has to command attention,” said Marvel executive producer Mike Jones.

Marvel did not make any mention of the titles Telltale Games is working on. The first title for consoles and PC will be launched in 2017.

Konami launches Contra-style mini-game available for Star Wars: Force Collection | Konami lanza mini juego a la Contra disponible para Star Wars: Force Collection

Contra-style mini-game available for Star Wars: Force Collection

[EN]: A Star Wars mini-game version of the classic action game Contra is now playable in Star Wars: Force Collection featuring Chewbacca as the main character. It seems like Contra also got The Force.

The free-to-play Force Collection card game released for iOS and Android devices plays now lets players enjoy four stages in the mini-game. There are many details that should remind players of Contra in this game such as the 2D side-scrolling and pseudo-3d look of the stages, as well as the various weapons and power-ups. People who have played the original arcade and NES version of Contra will not need any introduction to this. There is something that brought Contra to fame besides the fun (and hard) gameplay: the Konami code (used to get 30 lives instead of 3).

The special mini-game will be available for a limited time until May 27 @ 1:59 EST.

“We worked with people from Hollywood and the gaming community,” said Leiter, former NCC director

Michael Leiter, former director of the National CounterTerrorism Center

Michael Leiter, former director of the National CounterTerrorism Center

During yesterday’s political affairs program This Week with Geroge Stephanopoulos on ABC, Micheal Leiter, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, stated people from the film and the gaming industries have contributed with the US to combat terrorism.

Here is the ABCNews.com transcript (with video of the discussion) of the segment about national security just days after a USPS employee landed with a gyrocopter at the back yard of the White House. Martha Raddatz, subbing for Stephanopoulos, told Leiter the U.S. has lacked imagination when fighting terrorist group al Qaeda. The talk with Leiter starts at 6:25 minutes.

RADDATZ: I feel like I still haven’t gotten an answer, and not really from Chairman McCaul, whether there is anything in place that should have stopped that, that should — they should have seen that gyrocopter.

LEITER: They should have seen it. There are all sorts of things in place. There’s actually a whole air defense umbrella around Washington. And so why it didn’t get seen — people are saying it flew so low — what happened was, he’s low. He looks like a car to a radar. So he — it’s my understanding he was seen, but people thought he was a car, it was a bird, and it wasn’t addressed.

But the interesting thing about this gyrocopter it was built in the 1920s. So you have 1920s technology that’s pointing out flaws in $100 million air defense system. And ironically it’s a federal employee committing a felony to point out the flaws in the system.

RADDATZ: Michael, I want to go back to — 2004, the 9/11 commission — and you heard Pierre talking about the 9/11 commission. The U.S. government suffered from a failure of imagination in battling al Qaeda. Are we doing that again planning for the last attack instead of the next one?

And you’ve been in government very recently. How do you red team that? How do you know what’s going to happen, or try to know?

LEITER: It’s a great question and that’s very hard. We did do a better job I think after 9/11 bringing people in who weren’t government officials, who weren’t law enforcement officials. We worked with people from Hollywood and the gaming community to say “you’ve got an imagination, what would you do as the next attack?”

But inevitably, government is a big organization, a big bureaucracy, it tends to fight the previous war and the previous threat. And if you have to invest limited resources, you’re going to do what the most likely attack and the biggest consequence attack is. And that means things like gyrocopters that could pose some threat, but maybe not the threat of a commercial airliner being hijacked, or weapons storming the Capitol. Get lower priority.

And again, limited resources, you have to make those choices.
