Full Sail University: “Red Bull LAN E-Sports Training Invitational”

[ES]: Even the best players in the world need time to prepare themselves in order to compete for the top position, especially in professional gaming. Starting this Friday, training will begin for a selected group of StarCraft II and Halo: Reach contestants at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL, including for 19-year-old Lee Sak Won who finished 5th on a recent SC II tournament, [http://pro.majorleaguegaming.com/competitions/29#event_87_results].

Red Bull will be streaming each night live the training of these players via the mentioned sites below (in the press release) for three days from 6pm-12am. It will be the first time Full Sail students get to see a professional gaming event at their campus.

“Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer’s Edition”


La votación llegó a su fin para revelar los ganadores de los mejores finales de videojuegos. LONDON (January 9, 2012) – Today, Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking, announce the Top 50 Videogame Endings of All Time as voted for by 13,519 fans of gaming.  Conducted for the new Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer’s Edition book, the list will cause heated debate among passionate gamers and provide further evidence of the growing sophistication and popularity of videogames.

Last year’s best-selling videogame, Call of Duty: Black Ops, developed by Treyarch, tops the list.  The dramatic finale features a frantic shoot-out inside a submarine and provides our hero Mason the chance to take vengeance for a murdered friend. The closing sequence offers a new twist on the classic JFK conspiracy theory.

Second place in the list is 2010’s Halo: Reach developed by Bungie.  Another First-Person Shooter, Halo: Reach takes place in the year 2552, with humanity locked in a war with the alien Covenant.  During the post credits sequence the player’s character, Noble Six, makes a final stand against impossible odds.  Although he is eventually overwhelmed, his sacrifice ensures that the ‘Master Chief’ survives.

Over 13 year’s old, Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time takes third place in the list.  One of the best loved games of all time ends in classic fashion with our iconic character defeating Ganondorf and rescuing Princess Zelda.

The rest of the 50 offers a definitive list of the greatest videogame endings of all time.  Notable entries include Red Dead Redemption (2010) which comes in at number 6.  Rockstar’s mega-hit finishes like all good Western films with retribution, revenge and bloodshed.

At number 7 is Portal (Valve, 2007).  The highly memorable ending breaks from tradition, with the final boss, GLaDOS, appearing to be defeated but then going on to perform a musical number titled ‘Still Alive’.  The song, written by nerd-folk artist Jonathan Coulton, has become a cult hit and been immortalised in numerous online tributes.

Quantic Dream’s highly innovative Heavy Rain (2010) makes up the 10.  The game features 22 possible endings which add to the excitement of the thriller.  Will your in-game choices result in the ‘all round happy-ending’ or will they instead lead to an ending so dark that you’ll witness the deaths of most the game’s major characters.

Gaz Deaves, Gaming Editor for Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer’s Edition said: “Everyone has an opinion on how to end a game whether it’s an epic boss fight, a clever plot twist or a 90-minute movie.  This list recognises some of the greatest endings and hopefully will get gamers talking about what are their favourites and why.”

Major League Gaming – MLG Orlando Competition – My thoughts


MLG Competitions

This weekend has been my first time attending a Major League Gaming competition and noticed the presence of the best gamers from around the world. These gamers are real professioanls whether they are playing on their own or in teams.

At the competition itself, a big area for each of the games can put anyone in awe. The fans of each of the games really enjoy watching the best of the best battling it out to move on to the finals.

As a fan of Call of Duty: Black Ops, I enjoyed watching the amazing skills and tactics used in the game. Most teams are specialized on one or two styles or types of gameplay. While others succeed at “Capture the flag,” others do surprising well at “Domination.”

The location of the event, the Gaylord Palms Resort,  is a great atmosphere for gamers.

MLG Pro Circuit returns to Central Florida | El Circuito Pro MLG vuelve a la Florida Central


Por séptima ocasión, las Ligas Mayores de Juegos vuelve a Orlando, FL, ofreciendo a jugadores profesionales  la oportunidad de clasificarse a las finales del torneo. For the seventh time, Major League Gaming returns to Orlando, FL, offering professional gamers the opportunity to get classified to the Finals of the tournament. Hundreds of participants from the US and many other countries  will compete by playing three of the current, most popular games:  StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC), Halo: Reach (Xbox 360), and Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3).

Hundreds of players from around the world will compete in the StarCraft II tournament, including Raleigh Pro Circuit champion ST_Bomber and Korean players SlayerS_Boxer, ST_JulyZerg and Prime_HongUn, all of whom will make the trip to Orlando through MLG’s exchange program with GOMTV’s Global StarCraft II League (GSL).

Call of Duty®: Black Ops on PlayStation 3 system

Hundreds of players will battle for a 1st place prize of $10,000 in gameplay modes Capture the Flag, Domination and Search and Destroy.  After defeating Collapse in Raleigh for first place, FeaR will fight for the championship spot against top ranked teams including eon EnVy, eon OpTic Gaming, Quantic LeveraGe and Quantic Nex-TT-hreat.

 Halo: Reach on Xbox 360

Hundreds of Halo: Reach players will compete during the three-day, double-elimination tournament for the 1st place prize of $20,000. TrueAchievements is proud to announce that we are holding The Ultrafun: Halo Forever! (For a day) with the goal of raising money for Child’s Play.

We have staffers broken up into two teams, Red & Blue, who will be playing the campaigns of Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach on Legendary in 4-player Co-Op. They will be kicking off at 1:00 PM GMT (8:00 AM EST) on July 2nd (this Saturday) and not stopping for 24 straight hours.

As we raise money and pass certain milestones, the teams will back out to the main menu add a SKULL, and resume their playthrough with the new skull challenges implemented. Ergo, the more you donate, the more skulls will be added and the more “fun” this challenge will be! Here are the donation milestones:
