[EN]: According to Nikkei and NHK, Universal Studios Japan has decided to postpone the opening of Super Nintendo World that was scheduled for this summer, due to COVID-19.

Fans that were hoping to attend the new attraction that was scheduled to open up its doors in late July may have to wait until either Fall or sometime next year if possible, says Nikkei. It will really depend on the seriousness of the situation in Japan about the pandemic.

Though the attraction has been reportedly almost complete, it has had a few additions including Yoshi and a spinning Koopa shell in recent weeks.

The opening of the new attraction would most likely bring more visitors to USJ. However, the increase in the numbers of visitors would conflict “with the top priority in the epidemic of avoiding crowded places and close-contact settings,” says NHK. Currently, residents of the local Kansai area can attend.

USJ has invested close to US$560 million in the construction of the Super Nintendo World.
