[EN]: After just eight days of offering initial support, the latest Steam beta update now provides full support for Sony’s PS5 DualSense controller.
The Steam beta version released on November 12 included initial support for the PS5 DualSense controller.
However, that beta did not come with support for “advanced features such as rumble, trackpad, and gyro.” It’s not just great news for gamers, but also for game developers. Games that already support the Steam Input API won’t need any updates to enable the PS5 controller.
“Full support for the LED, trackpad, rumble and gyro features are available for players to configure in games such as Death Stranding, No Man’s Sky, Horizon: Zero Dawn and more,” says the post. The PS5 controller is now one of 200+ input devices supported by Steam.
According to the post, more players are using console controllers to play games on their PC.
“In controller friendly games, the percentage of players for that game that use a controller can easily be 60% or higher. Some games, such as skateboarding games, have well over 90% of their players using controllers in game.”
In the last two years alone, the use of PlayStation controllers on Steam has gone up from 10.9% to 21.6%.
